Forest Service crews create a 26 mile Eagle Creek loop from Wahtum Lake to Herman Creek with camping options. The 14 000 acre Columbia Gorge Park near Eagle Creek will gain picnic grounds camp sites and additional trails over several years while remaining usable now. A ranger is stationed at Eagle Creek and a water and sewer system have been installed for this season.

Cannery Project Nears Startup After Fire
Three weeks into rebuilding the cannery on the old site, the Valley Canning Co. expects to test machinery and start operations right after the Fourth. Despite discouragements from the fire, the firm moves forward to bolster Newberg’s canning industry. Beginning Monday, Royal Anne cherries in good condition will be received at the plant with no break for July.
