Washington reports that the government failed in the supreme court to forfeit the un sold Oregon & California railroad lands totaling about 2.8 million acres valued over 30 million dollars. The court ruled the sale covenants enforceable only as covenants, giving congress six months to act while the railroad remains enjoined from further sales.
