Commencement Week Highlights at Pacific College
Pacific College wrapped its commencement with strong attendance and varied exercises. Acting President John D. Mills delivered the baccalaureate message, praising spiritual life and personal growth over material wealth. Degrees were conferred by Mills with Rev. Fred E. Carter giving the benediction, and scholarships awarded to Irene Hodgin and Esther Terrell.

Lad Hill School Holds Closed Exercises in Grove
June 2 closing exercises at Lad Hill school drew parents and friends to a shaded yard picnic lunch. Children recited and acted fairy plays and patriotic drills in costume under teacher Mrs. Kraps. Four Generations of Methodist Wires
Family record shows four generations of Methodist preachers from David Wire born before the Revolution to Melville Thomas Wire serving in Oregon City. Thomas David Wire joined the Wyoming Conference in 1834 and served fifty two years dying in 1886. Melville Cox Wire joined Rock River Conference in 1876 and Oregon Conference in 1884 now retired. Melville Thomas Wire joined the Oregon Conference in 1902 and is pastor at Oregon City. The line traces back to the Christmas Conference of 1774.
