A long list of local residents visiting relatives and traveling from Salem Portland The Dalles and other towns. Included are readings of decoration day visits by many families, restaurant and business trips, and notes on staff changes at local stores and clinics.
Last Friday evening from eight to ten the faculty hosted an annual reception honoring the senior class. The event was held at the home of President and Mrs. Pennington.
W G Allan and family spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs M Gardner. Nellie F McNeill visits Miss Cornelia J Spencer. F C Little of Portland spent Friday in Dundee. Mrs A A Parrett hosted the Women of Woodcraft. A social followed with dainty treats. Drew Hagey still improving. Mrs Julian Alford recovering from dicitis. Third contest winners Roy Kimber Fleeta Leland Teddy Emerson. Matron's oratorical contest slated for Friday June 5 at 8 pm with Mesdames Swink Kennedy King Robbins Parrett contestants. The closing day of school celebrated with a large turnout in the school grove featuring races contests a picnic lunch and rides for youngsters. Athletics committee A A Parrett H B Powell John DeVore. Fourteen prizes awarded. Afternoon program included singing addresses recitations and music by students and high school groups. Presentation of gold watch and chain to Prof Powell by the school board and a gold charm from pupils of the high school. Powell thanked the pupils and parents for support. A PTA meeting followed and the board approved joining the state federation. Dundee boys defeated Newberg schoolboys in a ball game. A new State Traveling Library box arrived at the Dundee library with book exchange days to be announced. Mrs Bernhard Groth recovering from illness. A district meeting to elect a five year director set for June 15 1914 2 to 6 pm. One petition with 10 legal voters can place candidates on the ballot by June 12. By order of Board W W Nelson Clerk.
A typo error in last week's issue misstated Miss Britt's music class. The System of Fundamental Music Training is taught by Miss Britt with sessions starting next week on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9 to 10. Visitors are welcome and investigations invited.
Legal voters of School District No 29 Yamhill county Oregon are notified of the annual school meeting and related proceedings to be held as required by law. The notice calls for a meeting to discuss district business and budgeting matters.
