Back to the Farm Honors Lyle Dairy Visit
High school agriculture class toured Lyle's dairy last Friday led by their teacher. Mr. Lyle showcased the modern barn, clean facilities, cattle, and a vetch field. The herd includes the champion 22 owes one and a pure bred yearling Durham bull from a champion Kansas dam. Students enjoyed ripe strawberries and cream offered by Mr. Lyle, especially S. Ed. Launer.

The Perils of Pauline to Open at Star Theater

Loving Cup Awarded To Local High School Team
The high school baseball team earned the silver loving cup from Larkin-Prince Hardware Co for the best season record in 1914. Cannery Runs on Strawberries as Price Drops
The cannery started up on the last installment of the strawberry crop with prices low enough to justify canning. About 100 workers, mostly women, worked two days handling berries, washing them by machinery, and packing 500 pound barrels with a layer of berries and sugar. Managers expect another day of intake with similar output and report good wages for the workers.

Pillar Logs Shipped From Several Regions For Oregon Building
Logs totaling 48 and averaging 29 000 pounds each were shipped from Portland Central Oregon Southern Oregon and by steamer from Coos Bay for the Oregon building at the exposition. A single derrick at the Albina dock will hoist them. Each 5 foot diameter 46 foot high pillar bears a state emblem and honors all 48 states.
