River teen paralyzed after log diving accident
Willie McVey son of Mr and Mrs Sam McVey of River Street slipped while diving from a high log into five foot water in the Willamette River Sunday He was pulled from the mud and paralyzed from the shoulders The Newberg high sophomore was treated by Portland specialists and home care then a plaster cast was applied His condition showed some improvement and his family and friends hold cautious hope for recovery

Military Funeral for Elmer Mills Planned in Newberg
The funeral for Elmer A. Mills will be held at 2 30 p m Sunday from his parents home in Newberg. It is a military funeral led by Lester C Rees Post American Legion Newberg. Mills served as a private in Battery B 147th regiment 41st division in France where he died of influenza. The Battery stationed at Clackamas will attend. Citizens and all American Legion members are urged to be present.
