The Journal argues for stricter handling of revolvers after several drunken arrestees were fined two dollars and had their weapons returned. It contends revolvers offer little benefit and spur dangers from jealousies and drunk or thoughtless individuals, urging ownership limits nationwide.
In Whitefish Montana on July 8 1908 editor GraPhic prints a letter from E SouTwick defending David L. Baker. The correspondent asserts Baker is honest sober and industrious and well known locally in the community.
Starting June 22 the C B R R will run daily except Sundays between Albany and Yaquina. Train 16 and 2 mixed passenger departures from Albany at 7 45 a m and 12 40 p m reaching Yaquina at 1 30 p m and 5 30 p m respectively. Train 15 and 1 passenger mixed from Yaquina at 2 15 p m and 7 00 a m reaching Albany at 7 00 p m and 11 55 a m.
On Sundays the service runs Ly Albany at 7 35 a m Ar Yaquina at 11 40 a m Ly Yaquina at 6 00 p m Ar Albany at 11 30 p m.

The city of Newberg invites sealed bids by 1 pm July 9 1908 to grade and gravel a Main street segment from First street to railroad tracks. Bids must include per cubic yard price for crushed rock delivered and placed in three coats with specified crusher sizes. Separate bids requested for grading and rock delivery.
