Acting Coroner W D Smith visited a Beaverton tent after Mrs Rafferty reported her husband Fritz Rafferty had died Tuesday. No physician was present and the coroner cancelled the inquest. The tent was described as filthy with voices heard inside and spectators unnerved.

Mrs. Bales Is Remembered For Faithful Life In Oregon and California
Mrs. Bales, long connected with United Brethren and later Friends churches, moved from Newberg to Lawndale and McMinnville areas. She married George M. Bales in 1867, had seven children and many descendants. Her funeral was held at the Friends church conducted by Rev. Charles O. Whitely.
