Man Killed by Oswego Local Monday Night
Charles F. West aged 59 of 5031 Sixty first avenue Southeast was struck by an Oswego railroad train Monday night near a pole he was near while lighting a pipe. He died minutes after arrival at Good Samaritan hospital in Portland from a fractured skull and a smashed leg. Coroner took charge. identification via licenses. West is believed to be an employee of Northwest Steel & Iron Company.

The city council met Monday night appointing T A Garron as engineer and electing S P Timberlake to fill a vacant council seat. They posted notice of paving streets, passed a permit requirement for street soliciting, and ordered marshal attention to stray dogs. Mayor Calkins appointed Jessee Badwards as acting mayor.
