Twenty seven Dundee women visited Portland as guests of the Associated Industries touring the Log Cabin Bakery Co. and its $130,000 oven, Pacific Coast Biscuit Co. and its confections, Crosset and Devers coffee plant, the Log Cabin again, Swift Packing and Butter rooms, Crown Flour Mills, and a hotel luncheon. The day highlighted cleanliness modern machinery and the oat supply from Willamette valley.

Chas K Spaulding founder of Spaulding Logging and a pivotal West industry builder began logging in 1882 in Yamhill county Oregon. City approves paving contract for Newberg district
At a Wednesday city council meeting a contract with Warren Cotton Co for paving Newberg streets this season was signed. Total cost 219 418 79 dollars with a bid of 2 46 per square yard. Project spans Second and Third streets Hancock and Sheridan from River to Main and adjacent cross streets. Engineering oversight by T A Garrow says work starts immediately and should finish this season. Other bid details include grading drainage and curbing with estimated property costs 5 25 to 5 50 per front foot.

James W. Nesmith notes in 1845 letter as supreme judge of Oregon that Champoeg county produced the first printed tickets. He mentions his December appointment to fill a vacancy after Dr. Babcock’s resignation and a June election where he received a unanimous vote across the territory.
