Elevator accident kills Bowerman twin at Knickerbocker Apartments
Two year old Thomas Benton Bowerman died after being crushed between an elevator and wall at Knickerbocker Apartments. His twin brother William J Bowerman and elder brother Dan 7 witnessed the fatal birthday incident as Dr Barbee and staff tried in vain to save him.

Obituary of Mrs. Sarah A Deskins of Newberg
Mrs. Sarah Ann Schuck born May 15 1839 Henry County Iowa died February 13 1913 in Newberg at age 73 9. In 1855 she married Daniel D Deskins and lived on the D L C farm north of Newberg. Four daughters survive Ellen Todd Caroline Goodrich Emma Deskins and Edith Holt and many relatives. She was a charter member of the Christian church and funeral services were held at the home Saturday at 10 oclock with Rev George Ritchey and burial in Dundee Cemetery.

Life of Joaquin Miller Ends in San Francisco
Poet Joaquin Miller died in his one room Piedmont hills cabin at age 103 in the afternoon after a final illness. His daughter Juanita and Dr J C Stout arrived too late. Colonel Irish of Oakland was nearby and Miller wished cremation and ashes scattered at the Golden Gate. He was born November 10 1841 in Indiana and wrote Songs of the Sierras and Sunlands.

Little girl wounded by stray bullet near Newberg
The five year old daughter of Mr and Mrs August Schaad was accidentally shot with a 22 rifle while her father hunted a squirrel on their farm two and a half miles east of Newberg. The bullet pierced the stomach and lodged in the body. She was taken to St Vincent Hospital in Portland for treatment. prognosis cautious but hopeful if no complications arise.
