Independence H S to Meet Newberg H S in Friday Game
A basketball contest is set for Friday night February 2 at the High School gym between Independence High School and Newberg High School. Independence, after a loss on its floor to the local team, beat Dallas High School, the only team to have beaten Newberg this season, showing they can play fastball. The home team has played four games with area high schools and two with the local Spartan team, losing only once. Remaining games include Dallas, Forest Grove, and McMinnville. If they win, they could push for the State championship with a strong run. Friday’s lineup: Gause and Miller forwards, Vincent center, Jacobson and Fendall guards.
