Pioneer in Education Invited to Speak January 2 1912

The city will hear Dr Albert E Winship, editor of the Boston Journal of Education and noted educator, on January 2. He is acclaimed for engaging lectures and deep studies of the boy problem and juvenile court work, with reserved seats available at Parlor Pharmacy.

Obituary of Mrs S W Potter

Sarah J Detweiler born November 1841 Urbana Ohio united in marriage to S W Potter April 2 1861. They lived in Illinois Dakota Oregon moving to Newberg 1903. After years with an itinerant minister life she fell ill January and died December 25 at seventy years. Funeral December 26 pastor W C Reuter quoted Psalm 73 24.

Seely Sisters Sing Selections For Funeral Rites

Selections were sung by the Misses Vera and Bertha Seely. The afternoon train carried the remains to Eastern Oregon for interment in a cemetery eight miles from Mikkalo.

Elegant Wedding at Baptist Church in Newberg

A wedding was held at the Baptist Church on Wednesday at 1 30 p m. Ralph O Cook of Portland and La Verne Miller of this place exchanged vows with a cream messaline gown and bouquet. Officiating was Rev A T Norwood with Fay Wentz singing and Mrs Walter Wilson playing the wedding march. The couple will reside at 290 Ivy Street Portland with many out of town guests attending.

Farmer cooperative association forms after Chehalem Center meeting

The organizing committee for farmers at Chehalem Center has completed preliminary work and will establish a permanent Farmers' Co-operative Association after the holidays.
