Obituary of Lucian M Metcalf Pioneer of Elgin Minnesota

Lucian Monroe Metcalf born November 13 1840 in Swanza New Hampshire spent his early years in Boston. He moved with his parents to a farm near Elgin Minnesota where he helped build the community and earned many friends through a life of honesty and faith. He married Electa Ackley January 1 1866 and they had five children. He aged to 77 with a long illness and failed health. He moved to a Newberg farm in 1894 and joined the Springbrook Friends church in 1902. He outlived his wife and four children and left numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Hudson Elliott chapel with Miss Edith Minchin officiating.
