Bank Robbery Revisit Links Mare Theft to Suspects
Graphic supplement recalls a 1903 burglary tale. A. B. Brown of Scholls reports his mare and buggy stolen the night after the crime, driven toward Portland for about twelve miles. The mare was later recovered. thieves took a detour and rejoined the Portland road near Brown’s farm, meeting neighbors returning from lodge.

Professor Amey Resigns for Army Training and Athletics Post
Professor Amey resigns as mathematics instructor and director of athletics to enlist in the army. He will undergo five weeks of ordnance training at the University of Oregon before service handling munitions. Basketball results from last week show freshmen 23 sophomores 46. seniors 14 juniors 13. freshmen 24 juniors 7. seniors 23 sophomores 13. sophomores 21 juniors 1. freshmen 25 seniors 13. A pennant was charged for the team with the highest percentage. the freshmen won. Fred Yergen plans to try for the team. Several new Sherwood students moved in to avoid new school-law entrance exams.

Bibles for the Soldier Boys Campaign in Newberg
Newberg plans a two day drive to raise funds for supplying New Testament Bibles to every American soldier and sailor who promises to read it. Dish towels sent to soldiers by Newberg groups
The Young People's Union organized a towel drive for soldiers in care of the YMCA in Vancouver with 131 towels collected so far. Rex leads in totals followed by Springbrook and the Methodist society. The War Service Committee will continue the effort and set a towel drop at Crede's Meat Market. The mayor urges all Newberg residents to join the American Red Cross during the designated week in December 1917.
