Newberg Fire Department Honored at Woman’s Auxiliary Dinner
The Newberg fire department, except for Lard Sherlock due to his wife’s illness, was treated to a large dinner at Friends church basement hosted by the Woman’s Auxiliary to Pacific College. Mayor Edwards and Chief C H Coe spoke as Evangeline Martin praised the corps, calling their service essential to the city. The group, about 200 college members strong, joined in a toast to flame fighters of Newberg and then enjoyed the feast.
