Fined for carelessness over camp fire in Siletz basin

Earl Stonehocker and A A Elkins of Pedee country were arrested and pleaded guilty before Magistrate Hardy Hofman for leaving a camp fire burning in the Siletz basin. They paid a $5 fine plus costs. Ward Fuller and a warden want to stop such practices and will summon others on the warden's list.

The British Consul at Portland announces that ratifications of recruiting conventions with the United States and Canada will be exchanged in London on July 30. Britons and Canadians aged 21 to 30 must serve in the U S Army from July 31 to September 28. Ages 20 and 31 to 44 must register by proclamation day, likely August 30, with 30 days to enlist or be rejected. all 20 to 44 in the U S become liable after September 29 unless already enlisted or rejected at recruiting depots.

Chaperones High Explosives In Stormy Night Incident
