In Chehalem Center north of Newberg Mr Sherwood reports 220 hens laying 159 eggs in a day and expects over 1000 eggs for the week. Escaped Lunatic Captured By Marshal Near Town
On Wednesday afternoon Marshal Thomas captured Augustus Douglas, an escapee from the asylum who appeared at the river seeking refreshments. Douglas, 275 pounds with shoe size 16, confessed to setting fires at Klamath Falls and to feigning insanity to flee a penitentiary. He was jailed locally and an asylum official took him to Salem by 1 o’clock train.
