Second Letter from Mrs Jackson Aboard Pacific Voyage

An 1919 diary entry recounts the Pacific crossing toward Yokohama. Mrs Jackson describes tea and meals at sea, shipboard routines, and class differences, then views Honolulu and Honolulu sights, harbor arrivals, and coastal scenes. She notes rough seas near Japan, a severe 85 mph gale, and eventual calm as the ship nears Yokohama.

Newberg Parent Teacher Institute Highlights County Event

WAMHILL COUNTY ent hosts a teachers institute with Prof Ander and Miss Leona Jackson presiding. Luncheon by the Parent-Teacher Association and a program by Newberg high school pupils preceded talks by the county superintendent on The Making of Americans. Evadne Harrison read aloud and Frank M. Wellgs spoke on The Teacher of Today and Yesterday. Officers were nominated as health conditions limited institutes. Next meeting in McMinnville on April 26.
