A party of twenty two on the yacht Blanche M. on the Ohio River near Gallipolis were thrown into the water when the gasoline tank exploded. After an hour adrift in a disabled launch during a Monday hurricane six crew members from W. S. Kilmer’s yacht Remuk were rescued by a boat from E. C. Benedict’s Oneida. A Swede, August Johnson, aged thirty, drowned when a cutter attempting aid capsized the launch. Johnson’s body was recovered next morning by Benedict’s staff.
