Four drown in two Dover river accidents while trying to save
In Dover two separate tragedies in the Cocheco River left four men and a child dead or missing. A seaman, Thomas Keenan, was knocked overboard by a schooner boom at Dover Point House and another seaman George Jones died while attempting a rescue. Hours later Edward Durkin dived to save a child who fell from a rowboat, and both father and child were not recovered. Durkin left a wife and three children.
