St Matthew Church in Brooklyn to hold consecration service

The Church of St Matthew in Brooklyn will hold consecration services tomorrow at 11 a.m. with Bishop Burgess presiding. The parish traces back 49 years, having merged with Epiphany to form a rebuilt structure, aided by donations and fundraising that cleared debts and enabled a lavish remodeling project. The history notes St Andrew's links to Revolutionary times and Staten Island parish expansions as the bicentenary celebration honors its long-standing role.

St Andrews Bicentenary on Staten Island Celebrations Planned

The Church of St Andrew on Staten Island marks 200 years with special services and addresses by the bishop and Rev Charles Sumner Burch next Tuesday and Wednesday. Queen Anne funded the parish and a royal charter later secured land titles. two fires in 1767 and 1769 destroyed the upper structure but left walls standing. Memorial tablets will be unveiled for Queen Anne and the founders, while Rev John Talbot led early missionary work in Staten Island. The Rev Dr J McMahon receives Epiphany on Epiphany parish with purple vestments, honoring his long service since 1599. He was ordained in 1881 and has held various assignments before Epiphany.
