Morse Jury Locked Up In National Bank Case Trial

Judge Hough ordered the twelve jurors confined on the third floor of the Astor House amid guards and Secret Service surveillance in a landmark move for this district. The trial of Charles W. Morse and Alfred H. Curtis, former officers of the National Bank of North America, pits government claims of misapplication of funds and conspiracy to deceive the Currency Controller against defense arguments. The prosecution outlines four main violations tied to stock dealings and “dummy” loans, while the defense disputes the severity and relevance of the alleged acts as the case stretches toward a lengthy prosecution and trial schedule.
