Disqualification Lifted for Certain 24 Hour Race Participants

At a meeting of the racing board of the American Automobile Association the ban on some entrants from the first 24 hour race under the Motor Racing Association was suspended to allow their participation in future sanctioned events after they file a statement abstaining from further association races. Practice for the Vanderbilt Cup circuit on the Long Island Motor Parkway Sweepstakes began at daylight with about twenty five cars expected from the thirty five entered. The circuit venue underwent final touches and drivers praised the parkway as the fastest yet, though wary of safety. The Vanderbilt Cup commission ensured safety measures, including crowd control and signaling, and a rail stop agreement was arranged to avoid collisions with the Port Jefferson division. The Nassau Sweepstakes start order and car numbering were set, with multiple bulletins to aid spectators. No practice after 7 a.m. was to occur, and parkway traffic for tow cars was prohibited. The Vanderbilt Cup commission relocated its offices to the Garden City Hotel with Jefferson De Mont Thompson as chair.
