Eight year old George Owens of 212 Reid Avenue Brooklyn was fatally struck by a Gates Avenue trolley while others watched from a church vicinity. He had just climbed down from the car with a group of youths who had been dodging along the street. Ernest Matthew of Bedford Avenue operated the car. The accident occurred shortly before nine o clock as bystanders, including a fellow boy who cried my brother, witnessed the tragedy.

John Wheeler aged 50 an engineer and John Kurz 16 an assistant were found beside the boiler on asbestos covering after steam escaped.
