Princess Lwoff and the art world and a church row
The article traces Princess Lwoff’s shift from noted portraitist to anti vivisection lecturer. It recounts her Berlin controversy over Palaghi and Wallot, her marriage to Prince Lwoff, and her later touring work. It also notes King Leopold’s mistress Caroline Lacroix buying the chateau at Menonville and offering Sunday services to aid impoverished villagers, amid a bishop’s possible approval question.
