Camden, N J May 18 Two persons were killed and five others badly injured when an automobile was struck by the Atlantic City express on the Pennsylvania Railroad at the Market Street crossing near Gloucester City three miles below Camden. The dead are Harry Hunsburger of Philadelphia and Miss May Clarkson of Philadelphia. The injured include Mrs Mary Meyers of Merchantville in Cooper Hospital with a fractured skull, a broken collar bone and internal injuries and likely to die. Clarence Meyers of Camden, president of Meyers Manufacturing Company, was cut and injured. Edith Chivaro of Camden and Jane Hall of Philadelphia were also injured, along with Clarence Swank of Philadelphia.
Jerry Travers, leading American in the amateur golf championship at Sandwich, fails in the first round as nerves disrupt his game. Charles Palmer defeats Travers 2 up, while Francis Ouimet, Chick Evans, and others win their matches. Ouimet and Evans show strong form for upcoming rounds. Palmer's late strong finish ends Travers's bid, with writers noting Travers's breakdown and Palmer's steady finish.

A tug with five loaded barges started from Balboa and moved through Miraflores and Pedro Miguel locks, through Culebra Cut, to Gamboa for the night. The run through Lake Gatun and Gatun locks is planned for tomorrow. Five empty barges will depart Colon for Balboa in the morning.
Americans in Vera Cruz not connected with the army or government service must register or be deported under a May 15 order from military headquarters. Rear Admiral Badger's efforts to remove U.S. citizens have met with difficulty as many are unregistered and many ignored the consul’s request to list their names.
Vera Cruz May 18 Dr Aureliano Urrutia once a close Huerta ally arrived in the city amid threats over alleged orders to kill Raphel Villaporga. A guard protected his hotel as crowds cried death to Urrutia, while he and his family lunched under marine guards. He warned Huerta should resign and urged international police to supervise an honest election. The talk suggested the ship of state is sinking and wiser officers seek the boats.
