Submarines Make Long Cruise From Charleston to Annapolis
Annapolis May 11 That submarines can cruise 200 miles or more from the coast and return was shown on a voyage by the Cuttlefish Viper and Tarantula from Charleston to the naval academy. The Viper commanded by Lee P. Warren ran 487 miles without outside help. The Octopus fleet flagship also set a strong record, while the Tarantula separated from the Viper near Cape Lookout and Hampton Roads. There was little gasoline vapor escape and no illness aboard.
