City Finances under Fire in Reorganization Report
The Bureau of Municipal Research, to Controller Metz yesterday, argues New York City finances are mismanaged from top to bottom. It cites lack of clear debt data, payroll padding risks, antiquated records, and a need for a central purchasing agency to save millions. Metz supports impartial review and possible reforms with public backing and civil service approvals.

Wedding and death unfold in one day in Clinton Ball
An octogenarian grandmother died in the morning at 20 East 4th Street as preparations for her granddaughter Fannie Podolsky’s wedding completed. Fannie wed Abraham Krakowitz at Clinton Ball nine teen hours after the death, with Rabbi Fikis officiating. The funeral will be held by the Korson Besle congregation. Orthodox law bars any attendee at both events from visiting the other, so two bridegroom brothers will miss the funeral. The newlyweds will observe seven days of mourning or Shiva barefoot in their home.
