Calverton Long Island June 27 Mixx Althea Delia Hulxe left for Patchogue to witness a graduation fiancé Lewin Hazzard and another suitor Harrop were linked to Hulxe but she married George Marrup both Calverton residents. She told friends I don’t love either enough to marry him. Her mother was asked to forgive the sudden nuptials.

Motorcycle Rams Auto On Snake Hill Road

At night Eugene Hogan of 308 Euclid Avenue Brooklyn lost control of his motorcycle on Snake Hill road East New York and crashed into Dr J J Wagner of 28 Seventh Avenue Brooklyn. Hogan suffered scalp wounds and possible internal injuries and was treated by Dr Harney at Bradford Street Hospital before being taken to his home. Hogan's motorcycle was wrecked.

Man Arrested In Wife Clothes To Settle Bet

Michael Smith of 122 Willis Jr The Bronx masqueraded in his wife’s clothes to honor a bet on a Moran Johnson fight. Patrolman Cassidy arrested him at Night Court where Magistrate Noland ordered him held without bail until Monday. A probation report later noted a separate robbery incident tied to a man dressed in women’s clothes.

Garry Gordon, a Black veteran of the Interborough service, faced an assault after an altercation with Fred Bieber of 1016 Avenue A at Thirdwy and aath streets. Bieber demanded support for deprecatory remarks about Jack Johnson. when refused, Bieber knocked Gordon down. Patrolman Duggan arrested Bieber. A dozen friends tried to intervene. police dispersed the crowd. Bieber remained in custody.

Whales Near Lightship Off New York City

Captain Thomas Keys of the tug Lamont reported a school of spouting whales near the Sandy Hook lightship. The crew described ten whales sighted twice and a bold bull whale surfacing close to the tug as it neared shoal water. The sighting occurred while en route to Coney Island for a shore visit.

Route to Route Sherman Statue Relocation Planned

The gilded statue of General Sherman by St Gaudens in the plaza at 60th Street and Fifth Avenue will be removed as the Broadway Seventh Avenue subway digs begin a cross town section. If no Central Park site is found, the statue may be stored for two and a half years. Bids for the subway work open July 24.

La Crosse Wisconsin June 21 a third destructive storm of the week swept over central regions of Wisconsin Minnesota with flooding and washouts. Streets in La Crosse reported two to four feet of water while major lines of the Burlington St Paul Northwestern and Southeastern railroads suffered heavy washouts.

Verplanck Woman Uses Gold Chain For Tourniquet

Mrs. Frederick Daley of Verplanck saved Herman Croft of Peekskill after a wagon overturned and crushed him on the road. With a gold chain as a tourniquet she bound a severed artery and vein, stopping fatal bleeding until doctors arrived and treated his broken arm and injuries.

Five Italians rob poolroom at Lenox and 128th in New York

Five young Italians entered Henry Penfold’s poolroom near 128th street and Lenox Avenue just before midnight, held up 30 patrons at gunpoint, stole about $1,000 in cash and jewelry, then fled in a touring car. Police exchanged fire as the car sped away. a description of the vehicle is known.

Brooklyn Driver and Passenger Arrested in Boy Runover Death

James C. Pierson and Frederick Moslein were arrested by Fifth Avenue station detectives in Coney Island on a fatal collision case. Leon Strauss, 14, Commercial High School student, died after a car traveling about sixty miles per hour struck him near his home at 1th Street and Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. Police say the driver Moslein haunted by the boy and Pierson aided in the escape. They will be arraigned.

Attempt Made to Assassinate Venezuelan Ex-President Gomes

Morning report says an attempt was made to assassinate ex President Juan Vicente Gomez who yielded the presidency to General V Marquez Bustillo last April and was named commander in chief of the army. Goose causes fatal runaway on reservoir bridge in New Jersey

Mrs A H Miller, wife of a country home caretaker, died when a horse drawing a wagon with a goose on board plunged from a causeway into the Hackensack Water Company's reservoir at Woodcliff Lake Heights New Jersey.
