In Lacrosse Wisconsin on June 25 the Acme Packet Company steamer J S caught fire two miles above Victory after carrying 1500 excursionists from Lansing Iowa and other points. Captain Streckfus beached near Bad Axe Island saving all aboard with only one woman injured. The vessel burned to the water’s edge leaving passengers on the island.

Driver charged after hit and run deaths of two year old
