Duel in Battery Park Lawn Ends With Wounding
By Battery Park in the heat a crowd of about five hundred watched a duel between Peter Habbe of Brooklyn and Mehong Nelthon of Manhattan on the grass north of the Aquarium. Habbe fled after Nelthon was wounded. Nelthon was taken to Hudson Street Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hip. Police say a .32 caliber revolver was used and two shots were fired. Both men reportedly followed a long standing feud with details tied to a Washington Street restaurant and a possible code duello.
