Five trolley lines halted by fuse blow at power house
Five Metropolitan Street Halfway Company lines were tied up for half an hour last night after a fuse blew in the Fiftieth Street power house. Dynamos supplying Sixth Avenue Broadwey and adjacent crosstown lines stopped, stopping all service and causing major delays for churchgoers. Passengers, unaware of the wider outage, crowded between lines seeking north south routes, while Columbus Avenue service continued and many walked blocks to reach it.
