Aeroplane Chases Balloon Over Boston Suburbs
Earle L. Ovington in a Bltriot monoplane chased a balloon named Boston for fifty miles circling above Boston and its suburbs on June 17. The balloon ascended from Lowell and descended at Hamilton. Ovington then aimed for Bunker Hill Monument before returning to the aviation field. Balloon crew included H Helm Clayton former director of the Rine Hull Observatory J F Haworth of Pittsburg and H H Brown of Boston.

Submarine flotilla breaks U S submerged run record
Gloucester Massachusetts reports seven submarines arriving from Newport after ten hours underwater on the Nantucket to Provincetown run and seven and a half hours from Provincetown to Gloucester. Two boats stayed submerged eleven hours. Distance 160 miles.

Two men were killed when a fast Westbury bound train of the Long Island Railroad struck an automobile at the crossing. Wilfred Jay editor of Bit and Spur and Charles J. Ross polo photographer died, Bannister escaped after shouting warnings. Passengers and witnesses described a loud crash and a cloud of dust as the car was hurled into the air. Ross died two hours after being rushed to Nassau Hospital.
