Judge Lacombe Voids Transfers Among City Railways

U S Circuit Court Judge Lacombe rules there are no legal obstacles to Whitridge discontinuing transfers between Third Avenue, Manhattan Railway and allied lines and the elevated Westchester Electric and Yonkers systems. The decision allows posting ten days’ notice to end transfers, finds no single fare exchange contract, and notes the original agreement expired in 1884. He urges franchise discussions with state receivers and local authorities where forfeiture risk exists.
