A cloudburst on Big Creek devastates Gradyville Kentucky killing twenty one residents, including Mrs L C Neil and her four children, and Mrs Hartfield Moss and her six children. The flood, caused by six inches of rain in an hour, sent waters through the town wrecking six houses a mill and other buildings. State Senator Neil escaped while away on a patient visit. Rescue began from nearby Columbia with doctors and supplies.

Policeman Knocked Down In Third Ave Riot
Patrolman Samuel Beckner and Special Policeman William McCarthy were assaulted by a mob of about thirty at Third Avenue and 26th Street last night. Beckner used his own billy before being beaten. McCarthy was struck with a blackjack. One man, Anthony Moane of East 20th Street, was arrested for assaulting officers. An ambulance injured a bystander as cars and crowds disrupted the area for about twenty minutes.
