In New York on June 6 the State Civil Service Commission released its report on Earl H. Gallup's removal as chief transfer tax clerk from the State Controller's office. Civil Service Removal Violates Law In Gallup Case
The ruling finds the removal of Gallup by the Controller violated the Civil Service law as it was influenced by political affiliation and aims to keep appointments free from political contests. The report urges restoration of Gallup and condemns basing removals on party, noting the Controller acted in good faith and that reclassification should not bar merit.

Frisbie Figures A Deficit In State Expenses
Albany June 6 Assemblyman Daniel D Frisbie of Schoharie, minority leader, comments on state expenditures. He notes the Legislature passed 40,154,100 98 total appropriations with 33,968,023 93 for budget after Governor disallowed 4,488,885 06. He compares to last year’s 35,601,901 29 total and argues the budget remains well above prior levels even after cuts. Oliver's bid for reelection to the Senate as the party faction fractures. William Flynn, once a leader, backs Judd Bruff who campaigned across the county and defeated Mackrell by over 5,000 votes.
