A two thousand pound electric car driven by W C Baker smashed through a spectator line at a time trial on Southfield Boulevard near Grant City Staten Island. One man Andrew Fetherston died instantly. many others injured as the car rammed through crowds before crashing. Baker and his mechanic were arrested on homicide charges with bail set at 35000 each.
