A robber stopped Samuel Durocher in Mill Plain near Brewster, taking $21, a watch and a necktie pin after wounding him previously and sparing him half the spoils. Durocher, who had lost an arm months earlier, had been walking home to Heewater when approached. The gunman then returned the watch and $12, keeping the pin and remaining cash.

Eli Powers of New York City head of a publishing group was badly hurt when the car traveling from Bradford toward Chautauqua Lake skidded on rough land and turned over. Powers's companion, a hiker, escaped with minor injuries. Powers was taken to a hospital with suspected internal injuries. another rider suffered broken bones.

Army worms threatening seventy acres valued at $10,000 near Brantford Farms, owned by Commodore Norton V. Plant, were exterminated by fifty laborers under Professor G. H. Lamson of the Connecticut Agricultural College. The pest was killed Tuesday after workers laid bran mixtures in ditches. worms ate the bait and died, leaving the area now under control.
