W A Harriman of New York son of the late H Harriman fell from his sulky at North Randall during the 2:18 trot driving Exito owned by Robert Goelet of Goshen New York. St Louis July 18 intense excite ment followed the shooting of Felix E Anderson railroad official assistant to President McChesney of the St Louis Terminal Railroad Association. The assailant fled but is believed an I W W agitator. Police raided I W W quarters and six men were arrested, all deny knowledge of the shooting. Anderson is critically wounded.
Fire aboard the Metropolitan Steamship Line carrier Massachusetts en route from New York to Boston trapped about 400 passengers in the hold. Fire boats New Yorker Seth Low and William J. Strong aided by 12 firemen boarded to battle flames after the captain delayed signaling help, and the vessel resumed its voyage after the bulkhead fire was extinguished.
