Bold daylight payroll robbery nets $4700 from Nassau News
Eight armed masked bandits robed the Nassau News Company delivery station at 18 Spruce Street just after 2 pm seizing $4700 in payroll. Paymaster B Kelly and assistant D Kane were forced to a cellar with death threats while the thieves escaped. One unmasked leader, about 25, described as Italian, vanished with a box of money.
