Free Catholic high school system proposed in US
After the annual meeting of the Catholic Educational Association the foundation of a nationwide free Catholic high school system was laid. Plans call for converting Catholic preparatory colleges into free high schools with endowment expected at least 2.5 million dollars. Initiated by Rev. David W. Hearn of St. Francis Xavier's College, the move anticipates hierarchy approval led by Cardinal Gibbons. Archb ishop Farley may present the plan to the American hierarchy. a special meeting could be called within ten days. Institutions involved include Manhattan College and St Francis Xavier's College among others in major cities.

Pittsfield Massachusetts July 13 Miss M Cram sister of J Sergeant Cram of New York and Mrs J Woodward Haven was fatally hurt while returning from Lenox to Highwood. She dropped a rein and was kicked by the pony on the head causing skull fracture and bone splinters to the brain. Doctors trepanned at Highwood and Pittsfield but death was imminent. Her mother Mrs Henry A Cram lived at No 5 East 58th Street New York. Mrs Haven and young nieces Charlotte Cram and Helen Haven were present.
