Submarine Castine Beached After Collision in Manouevres
Provincetown July 11 The gunboat Castine tender for the submarine flotilla was rammed by the submarine Bonita during maneuvers and beached near North Truro to prevent sinking. No one aboard was injured though two Castine plates loosened and her dynamo and boiler compartments flooded. Castine carried eighty men under Lt Ralph A Koch. Bonita led by Ensign Sloan Banenhuher with fifteen crew.

Tragic leap from roof ends in death on East 133rd Street
Edward Leonard, resident of a five story building at 311 East 133d Street, stood on a parapet and plunged to the courtyard after waving his arms and uttering a few words. The killer sight caused nearby women on fire escapes to collapse. Leonard, son of a late police sergeant, had quit work after inheriting a fortune and had been drinking heavily. His wife recently left with their two children. Five pawn tickets found in his pockets. Police seek the wife.
