Vice-Admiral Chouknin commander of the Black Sea fleet was shot fatally wounded by a hidden sailor while walking the grounds of his residence in Sevastopol. He was taken to hospital with a lung wound and no hope of recovery. The attacker fled. motives tied to Schmidt execution and revolutionary anger.
The text notes that before review by the admiral, Choukain was warned that approving executions could endanger him. He approved the sentences, and reports suggested terrorists awaited a chance to kill him. Admiral Chouknin was port admiral at Vladivostok from 186 to 19 and later led the Black Sea command after directing the Naval College.

Buffalo July 11 A westbound two car trolley from Lockport struck an open switch near Martinsville and crashed into a waiting freight motor and a seven car freight train. Five passengers were killed immediately and about twenty injured with some fatalities feared. The impact was severe with the first car utterly demolished and the freight motor cleft apart.rels rushed to the scene.
Mrs. John Underwood of New York was pinned by a mountain lion on Harney Mountain near Custer South Dakota while visiting with her husband. Her life was saved by singing to charm the beast as dawn broke. Mr. Underwood shot the animal at daybreak, narrowly missing his wife. she lies seriously injured from the ordeal.
General Harold Redpath of the Canadian army arrived with Mrs. Redpath and Mrs. D J Evans after traveling twelve miles from Ausable Forks with a broken collarbone and a dislocated shoulder. A rough road on a high embankment caused the automobile to leave the road and be overturned. The General received medical care from Dr J Williston Wright in Lake Placid while his party was aided by local residents.
In Johannesburg on July 11 reports spread that black workers planned an uprising on July 17. Native servants warned mistresses to seek safety while police dismiss the rumours, though anxiety remains. A church conference paper cites districts advising open revolt.
Dr Charles A Tinker a renowned Harlem physician died at Howell House Westhampton at 6 this morning aged 51. Cause listed as chronic nephritis attributed to excessive automobile trips to the resort.
William A. MacNaffis, 25, a camper at the Twenty third Street Branch YMCA camp near Lake Oscawana seven miles from Peekskill, drowned while playing tennis. He jumped into the lake before cooling off, swam some distance, then sank after raising his hands. The body was recovered shortly after.

Her husband James Dougherty of Fifth Avenue Brooklyn was due on a later train.
Vice-President Fairbanks and party were in a car that collided with a buggy driven by Joseph M. Dougherty four miles west of Danville. Dougherty sustained bruises and his buggy was badly damaged. Dougherty greeted Fairbanks, who reassured him before driving off. Dougherty recalled the near miss and credited the incident to the curve. The second paragraph promotes Dewey’s Wines.
