New York Central Sues City Again Over Damages
The New York Central Railroad served the city through the Department of Finance with a new suit for 379,192 dollars for damages from tearing up its Twelfth Avenue tracks between 59th and 60th streets. The railroad had previously filed 27,192 dollars on July 2, 1907 and 5,000 dollars on January 2 this year, bringing the total to 37,192 dollars. It claims removal by order of the Public Works Commissioner was unauthorized and that the tracks were destroyed, raising freight handling costs by lighters.
