Health Department Develops Pneumonia Vaccine

The Health Department announced after two years of trials a pneumonia vaccine by Dr. Royal S. Copeland. The injectable vaccine requires three shots four to five days apart and will be distributed to private doctors and public dispensaries. Bandits Shoot Two in Silk Truck Hold Up in Manhattan

In a Washington Street gun assault two bandits stopped a Philadelphia Triangle Transportation silk truck. Driver Jovy Overton and guard August Koepp, both wounded, were rushed to St Vincent Hospital. Wife scalds husband and children in bed attack

Mre Tillie Mousant of Harvard Court frightened husband Harry Merbert and their two children with boiling water in bed. The husband and Herbert were rushed to Coney Island Hospital with serious injuries while the baby suffered minor burns. Mrs Wilado was held for examination in Coney Island police court on Monday awaiting further action.

Broadway Bandits Loot Times Square Pen Office Heist

Three men entered the Morrison Fountain Pen Co office on the third floor of the Gaiety Building beside Schmittberger Detective Agency near Times Square. They forced Abraham Morrison and a friend to surrender and took 3600 plus three gross of fountain pens from an open safe before fleeing by taxi. The incident occured around 8 pm near the Al Jolson Theater with access to nearby Broadway booking offices.

Scrap 15 Car Lines First in City Transport Plan

Nevada to Execute First Death by Gas in U S History

Carson City Nevada January 27 The execution of two Chinese men Hughie Sing of Garson and Gordon of San Francisco sentenced to death by lethal gas was set for the week ending April 2 under the new law. The men were convicted of the murder of Wong Lee at Mina Nevada Hawthorne Mineral County jail custody was transferred. A petition for a new trial was denied while an appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court was announced on grounds that lethal gas constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. The state cannot yet provide a gas chamber or equipment though the scope of the new statute authorizes a 60 to 90 day window. The plan is to have the warden present and invite a physician and six citizens to witness.
