Lady Constance Lytton, sister of Lord Lytton, jailed in Walton under the alias Jane Warton for smashing jail windows in Liverpool. Lilley admits a 20000 shortage after return from California and says bad loans to clergymen caused it with prominent churchmen offering to make good the loss.

A laborer believed to be Edward Casey was crowded between a Broadway local train and the platform edge at the uptown 14th street station. He died instantly as witnesses described a panic situation with several women fainting. The incident halted subway traffic for over thirty minutes and stopped ticket sales at the station.
Three horses and a bull tried to revive racing in New York yesterday. The bull charged through streets until Patrolman Barry corralled it and an amateur rope tied it.
