Charles Crawford a negro who tried to kill his wife and then shot himself in the temple was found alive at Mullin's morgue after being carried to St. Nicholas Hospital Newark. A morgue assistant discovered he breathed and Crawford recovered enough to be reported alive. The wife Sarah Crawford was wounded in the temple and treated at City Hospital. They lived at 232 Central Ave. The quarrel over money and jealousy preceded the shooting. A second shot followed and Crawford was found in bed with a head wound and a pistol.
