Congressman's Wife and Diplomat in a Tangled Christmas Tale
A fragment from a diary-like narrative portrays Mrs. Todd and Amos Rural detailing social maneuvering around a diplomat Captain Roderique, a White House visit, and a postmaster appointment bid amid Washington political theater. The piece blends gossip, romantic intrigue, and public office ambitions with sharp observations on Washington life.
