Turin Jan 14 Angene of the visit by ex President Roosevelt in 1904 was heard today when a suit for damages by one hotel keeper against another ended with the claim’s rejection. The rival hotel owner claimed disloyal competition after Roosevelt’s second honeymoon trip. rooms were set for the Roosevelts at one hotel and the rival met them with a carriage decorated with American flags.
Vincent Astor was unable to act as usher at the wedding of Miss Virginia Webb to Jorge Andre in the Church of the Heavenly Bert due to a heavy cold. His doctor advised rest after yesterday's unusually severe temperature. Secretary William A. Dobbyn left Astor’s office for Mrs. John Astor’s residence to handle the day’s affairs.

Alexander C Beach a New York navigator met an ice cold ducking when his hydroplane broke a motor gear in the Potomac River. Rescue came from Harbor Police Lieutenant Russell Dean and Private John Osterman aboard the Vigilant who battled through floating ice to reach the sinking craft and haul parts aboard. Beach had spent a month building the hydroplane hoping to demonstrate it to the Navy Department.
Mme Bernhardt, long denied the Legion of Honor by several Ministers of Instruction, finally received the award after direct intervention by President Joinen. The ceremony at WHR ht marked a notable reversal of previous objections rooted in unnamed concerns.

Dr Edward Charles Spitzka a renowned alienist died at his home from apoplexy at age sixty one. His brain weighed 1 400 gram and was measured by Dr John H H Larkin at Columbia, with comparisons to Cuvier Goodsir Gambetta and others. Joseph Monocle of 360 Chestnut Street Newark is jailed on $1,000 bail after a kitchen assault on his father-in-law Vito Leonardis. Leonardis says Monocle rushed in from the floor above, tipped a kettle of boiling water at him, and Mrs Leonardis claims Monocle bit her during the fight. Ongoing family tension preceded the incident.
Stephen Zitki lost his right arm when it was torn from its socket while oiling machinery at the Public Service Corporation plant in Jersey City. He was rushed to Christ Hospital where the limb was taken to the morgue.
An Austrian prince who was named for the Albanian throne rejects the proposal until satisfactory arrangements are secured. He states he will meet a Albanian deputation only after an international loan is completed.
Coast steamers Westport John J Cann and later Lansdowne and Mappahsanock rescued 108 aboard the Royal Mail packet Cobequid which struck Trinity Ledge six miles off Port Maitland. Captain Howson and 11 crew remained aboard until morning. Lifeboats faced fierce seas, cargo shifts, and shifting wreckage as first passengers, including Mrs Zoller and the James sisters, were saved one by one.
